It’s Not A Mystery

mysteryA weird thing has been happening to me lately – well ever since the show started.  Now when I talk to people about books and they start to talk about a book they enjoy they start with the phrase, “It’s not a mystery.” Almost apologetically.

I get it.  I mean I host a show called It’s A Mystery to Me.  Naturally the thought is that I read mysteries and I do.

Let me state for the record that I read more than just mysteries.  If it has words on it and stands still long enough, chances are I will read it.

I enjoy all forms of genre fiction, but I also like to read inspirational, self-help, and even business books.

So don’t feel like you have to apologize to me for telling me you loved A Man Called Ove, Jenny Lawson’s books, or Self Made, because the answer you will probably here from me is Me Too!   And if not me too then it just might be, “I have to read that.”

No, I’m Not Dead – Just Busy

Hi All –

I know I’ve been gone from the blog sphere since January. I’ve been busy working on book 4, living life, dealing with struggles, and embarking on new frontiers. Even I chuckle at how overly dramatic I am.

Book 4 in the Catherine O’Brien series is coming along. I was blocked and now I’m not. That’s all I have to say on the frontier.  The really great news is An Intimate Murder is now available on audiobook!  If you’re an audiobook fan and you’ve been waiting for this one click the image below and get your copy today!

As for the new frontiers, I’ve been asked to do a show for Authors on the Air Global Radio Network, LLC. and I accepted the challenge with much fear and trembling! You know, the usual. But I did it anyway.  Last month was the first episode of It’s A Mystery to Me with Stacy Verdick Case. I spoke with a fantastic author Shannon Baker. You can download the podcast or listen online by clicking here.

The show is going to be great.  I have so many great authors lined up I am thrilled to get to speak with them.  I promise not to be too much of a fan girl and geek out too on writing stuff for all you mystery readers who don’t want to have to learn how an engine runs just to drive a car (it’s a metaphor-too writerly? I’ll stop.). Like the It’s a Mystery to Me Facebook page to keep up to date on the latest and greatest.

So there you are! The rest of the challenges and living life, that’s just the usual stuff that everyone goes through, but onward and upward. As long as I woke up breathing this morning, it’s going to be alright.

Many Blessing to You All!

~S

The New Cover Has Arrived!

I’m so excited to announce that A Luring Murder will be coming soon!  The cover has arrived (so happy) and we are only weeks away from release. Since the release was pushed back and pushed back I’m not committing to a date until I know for sure (and am holding a copy in my hot little hands).

Here’s a preview of the cover and a little about A Luring Murder!

The irreverent detective is back, and this time she’s on vacation.

God help us all.

St. Paul, Minnesota Homicide Detective Catherine O’Brien and her loving husband Gavin are vacationing on one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes. When a local is murdered Catherine is tapped to help the small town sheriff until the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension arrives to take over the investigation.

Catherine is surprised when her partner Louise and Diggs the forensic pathologist, whose crush on Louise is only dwarfed by his own genius, show up to assist instead of the BCA.

Before long Catherine and Louise discover this sleepy little town has a dark side hidden beneath its placid lake charms. Somewhere in the tangle of cheating and deception is a motive for murder.

Thank you to all the fans who asked for this book! As many of you know this was not supposed to be the second book, but there was demand to know what happened on Catherine’s vacation, so I scrambled to give you want you wanted. I hope you enjoy reading this book and have as much fun with it as I did writing it.

God Bless!
